Section 1 – Fee Payment

1.1       Fees are payable in full at the start of each half term for the forthcoming weeks tuition.

 

1.2       Fees must be received in the first class of the term or a 10% surcharge may be added.

 

1.3       A student may take a class on a trial basis for up to three lessons per class, paying as they go. Should the student decided to join the class, they then pay the balance of the term remaining.

 

1.4       In exceptional circumstances arrangements can be made with the principal to pay in instalments, this must be arranged with the principal by the end of the 2nd week of term or a 10% surcharge will be added.

 

1.5       If a student misses a class they will not be refunded for their absence (except for exceptional circumstances, refunds are awarded at the discretion of the Principal).

 

1.6       Students whose fees are paid in instalments must also pay for classes missed by absence, unless prior arrangement is agreed with the Principal.

 

1.7       If classes are cancelled by the teacher, the missed class(es) will be rearranged to make up the time. Should this not be possible, students will be refunded for the missed time or will be subtracted from the forthcoming terms fees (at the discretion of the Principal)

 

1.8       If a student(s) cannot attend a rescheduled class and prior notice of at least 24 hours is given to the teacher then the student will be refunded for the missed time.

 

1.9       If a student is asked to leave a class due to any of the conditions detailed within this document they will not be refunded for the class

 

1.10     Fees for trips / performances must be received by the stated deadline or a 10% surcharge may be added.

 

1.11     All monies paid in cash or by cheque must be handed to the class teacher in a sealed envelope with Ôstudents nameÕ, Ôamount enclosedÕ and Ôpayment forÕ clearly written on the front. If a tear off slip is provided this must be enclosed within the envelope.

 

1.12     If monies are paid by cheque the students name must be written on the reverse of the cheque along with the cheque guarantee number, card issue number, start date and expiry.

 

1.13     In the event that cheques have to be represented to the bank or are declined totally the student must pay the costs incurred.

 

1.14     All 'courses' must be paid for before the commencement of the course, terms 1.5,1.7 & 1.8 apply.

 

Section 2 – Uniform

2.1   Uniforms for all classes can be ordered direct from the class teacher, prices for these items are cheaper than in the town shops as we do not have their overhead costs, it is therefore recommended that students purchase all items direct from the school

 

2.2       Class uniforms are as follows:


Ballet Grade 1 & Below: Panama Blue Dance Leotard, White Georgette Skirt, White Wrap Cardigan, White Satin Slippers, White Tights or Ankle Socks

Ballet Grade 2 & Above: Navy Blue Dance Leotard, Navy Georgette Skirt, Pink Wrap Cardigan, Pink Leather, Satin or Canvas Slippers, Pink Tights

Cheerleading : Squad specific Pom Poms, Black Jazz Shoes, Flair Ceer Squads Tee. NB: For larger events, the specific Flair Squad Skort & Top will be provided for use.

Disco / Freestyle: Kingfisher Blue Dance Leotard, Black Jazz Trousers, Black Jazz Shoes

Street Dance : Any Flair Top, Black Jazz Trousers, Black Jazz Shoes


 

2.3    Uniform must be worn to every class; new students must be in uniform by the end of their first full half term.

 

2.4    Uniform orders must be presented to the class teacher in a sealed envelope containing payment for the items as well as an order form. The front of the envelope should clearly show Ôstudents nameÕ, Ôamount enclosedÕ and ÔuniformÕ

 

2.5     Uniform must be worn to every ÔeventÕ arranged by the school.

 

2.6    Where costumes or uniform items are provided for students use at particular events, students will be given the item at the event and must return it at the end.   2.7     If a student takes an item home they must return it without washing (this allows all items to be washed together preserving colours).  

 

2.8     If a loan item (uniform, costume or equipment) is returned in an unsatisfactory condition or is lost the student must pay for the item to be replaced.

 

2.9     If the class teacher feels that the student is wearing inappropriate footwear or clothing to class the student will not be allowed to participate in the class.  

 

2.10  Jewellery items (including watches), which the class teacher feels, may cause injury or is inappropriate for the class must be removed or appropriately covered or the student will not be allowed to participate in the class.

 

2.11   Long hair should be tied back, short or mid length hair should be off the face.

 

Section 3 – Class Timing

3.1    Classes run back to back on the timetable without a break, students are asked to be considerate of each others time by getting ready in the changing room before their class start time and leave promptly at the end.  

 

3.2     Students are asked to wait quietly outside the class and wait for the teacher to invite them in to the room to begin.

 

Section 4 – Conduct

4.1       Students waiting outside classes should wait quietly until they are called.

 

4.2       Lessons will begin with registration and finish with a bow or curtsey; the teacher will then dismiss the students.

 

4.3       Classes are dismissed on the teachersÕ word and not necessarily immediately after the bow.

 

4.4       Parents / guardians may watch initial trial lessons but once the students joins the class the parents are asked to wait outside.

 

4.5       In exceptional circumstances parents / guardians may request to watch a class, this is at the discretion of the class teacher.

 

4.6       The final week of the summer term is Ôwatching weekÕ for Junior students in classes which have not participated in Fetes namely pre-school classes, and ballet. Parents and friends are welcome to come in and watch classes, they are however asked to watch quietly and asked to check with the class teacher before taking any pictures or video footage of the class.

 

4.7       Students are expected to demonstrate respectful behaviour to their class teacher and fellow students. Anyone displaying inappropriate behaviour will be asked to leave the class (see also clause 1.9).

 

4.8       Members of Flair are asked to keep the dance class venue tidy and presentable especially with respect to litter.

 

4.9       Students must not eat or chew gum whilst in class.

 

4.10     Students are responsible for their own property whilst in the school or at any of the events / shows arranged by the school and bring items at their own risk.

 

4.11     When at shows or events or wearing items of Flair school uniform students are representing the school and must behave in an appropriate manner and uphold the values and ethos of the school.

 

4.12     The Principal has the final decision on all matters concerning the school and can at their discretion exclude students from classes temporarily or permanently.

 

Section 5 – Miscellaneous

5.1       New students must complete an enrolment form upon joining the school, if they are under 18 this must be signed by a parent / guardian.

 

5.2       5.2 The names ÔFlair School of DanceÕ, ÔDiscover FlairÕ and ÔFlair Dance WorksÕ along with their logos are the property of Miss Lucy Barry L.I.D.T.A, BSc(Hons), B.S.Y.A

 

5.3       The Proprietor and Principal of Flair School of Dance is Miss Lucy Barry A.I.D.T.A, BSc(Hons), B.S.Y.A

 

5.4   The school timetable may be revised at any time, at the discretion of the Principal

 

5.5       The School is affiliated to the International Dance Teachers Association

 

5.6       In the case of class cancellation due to extreme circumstances such as snow, the school answer machine message will be changed and text messages to the provided Ômobile contact numberÕ will be made to advise students of the closure, individual phone calls will not be made.

 

5.7       In the event of the school closing due to teacher absence text messages to the provided Ômobile contact numberÕ will be made to advise students of the closure, individual phone calls will not be made.

 

5.8       Class cancellations will, where possible, be advised on the ÔnoticesÕ section of the website and school Noticeboard & via Email.

 

5.9       Classes are numbered 1, 2 or 3 etc if multiple classes are offered. This is not a numerical reflection of ability, if you are considering one of these classes please speak to the Principal, Teacher or Office who can advise on which is most appropriate for you to join

 

5.10  A certain amount of risk is carried by any physical activity, participants taking part in activities run by Flair in association with Flair do so at their own risk
